Grand Central Station Program "I am an ardent supporter of GCS, and I want everyone to know your program makes miracles happen in our schools. Administration, teachers, students, and parents - it has a positive effect on all of us. I would not have wagered any program could have such a cohesive effect on an entire community. Thank you all so very much!!! We are just ecstatic." "GCS has improved our entire school climate by helping us all work more as a team with the whole child in mind." "I feel like I am really teaching again. GCS is making as much of a difference in my life as it is my students!" "We had calls from school at least once a week from a different teacher. I can’t tell you how much (the school) spent on postage just for detention slips. Joe just couldn’t get his work done; the nagging at home was constant. Then, what happened was that Joe started getting depressed.... he had just shut down. And then he started going to the Grand Central Station program ... well, I can’t tell you ... it was like a miracle. Immediately, the grades went up, the phone calls from school stopped ... I can’t begin to tell you how good that felt ... I wish this program was in every single school!" "It feels GOOD not having to worry about going to school the next day." "You've taught us how to study and to believe in ourselves!" "What a great endeavor..we have seen the entire district working in this lab for the success of the students." "At the end of the year, I told (the principal), if you need me to go to the state to get funding for this program (for next year), I’ll be right behind you." "You have convinced this skeptic. I love what you offer for the teachers, which ultimately gets to the kiddos. Thanks for making a GRAND difference in Ft. Stockton." "Veronica, a fourth-grader, is one of our first students. She was one of the girls that I was the most concerned about at the beginning... more concerns than just one. But something wonderful has happened with her attitude and inner drive. This week on her weekly grade check, she has raised her Social Studies grade nearly 20 points (from 67 to 86). All of her grades are above 75 this week so she does not have to come to Level 3 (after school) next week. When we told her this, she said she would like to come in anyway because she knew this was helping her. We are so excited for her." "Great program for addressing issues on our campus. Probably the best method for catching those who are falling through the cracks." "This program is the best thing (our school) has done for learning in probably 20 years." "I am a strong advocate of GCS because I see the daily difference it makes in kids’ academic lives and how they feel about themselves... GCS is a process, a journey that is constantly evolving. We have had 100% lesson plans from our general ed. teachers for the past several weeks. Several of our teachers are reformatting their own tests and using GCS interventions in their classrooms. GCS is a journey worth taking" |
